Case study of Timetracker. How different teams use it

We interviewed one of our customers, Szerencsejáték Zrt. to talk about how and why they are using our plugin, Timetracker.

Szerencsejáték Zrt. is a 100% state-owned national gambling company, the 19th largest company in Hungary. Their offer includes lottery games, lottery tickets and sports betting products, which is associated with one of the largest sales networks in the country, with more than 7,700 sales points. As a responsible gaming operator, they provide legal gambling opportunities for anyone over the age of 18.

Challenge: Software development teams needed a better way to track their daily work 

Every team works differently in Szerencsejáték Zrt. Some of them made it optional to track the time spent on a Jira issue and some needed to make it mandatory. At first, one of the IT teams started to log their time during the documentation of devops and other tasks.


One of the teams started to use Timetracker in 2017 in order to track the estimated and actual time on Issues and make time tracking more efficient. They also wanted to have additional reporting features. As every team works separately within the company they didn’t require cross planning features with other teams. As Szerencsejáték Zrt. is a state-owned company, they have to obey laws and rules regarding data security. Timetracker uses Jira worklog database and doesn’t collect any customer data. The team chose this app as it meets the required security level and provides the needed features for a reasonable price.

Of course, other team leads heard about the new application and adapted to it. Later, they bought the app for the whole company and each team could decide if they want to implement it in their processes or not.

With this approach, Szerencsejáték Zrt. was able to easily transition to work from home in order to mitigate exposure to COVID-19. All the managers had to do is to decide whether they want to make time tracking mandatory or not. Since employees were already using the application, no any additional training needed.
